I made this awhile ago and put it on the shelf to be fired, it hasn't come out yet though. I'm not completely sure how I am going to glaze it just yet though. I want to make a set of plates with each phase of the moon on it, I want to make it out of porcelain so it has the nice white coloring. This plate is made out of porcelain and I think it looks more like a plate than the other. The other one was more of a bowl almost, whereas this one is flat.

Although I was trying to make a tall project, I ended up making a small little cup almost. It reminded me of a teacup so I decided to make it as one. I think it has a little bit of a shape to it, which is something I need to work on more (adding more shape to my projects). I was able to foot it. It took a little bit to make a handle that fit nicely and looked right with the cup. I kept it in a bag with some wet clay until I could attach the handle. It was put on the shelf the other day.
Progress:
September 27- Made the project today. I really like the shape of it, it reminds me of a honey pot. I sandpapered the project to smooth out edges a few days later since I wasn't able to foot this. October 4- Made the lid today. I had made one before but it broke with I tried to clean it up a little/shape it some more, so I made another one but didn't like how the handle turned out. I made one more and this one I am keeping. October 5- Made the handle today. Instead of doing a ball on top, I decided to try a loop type of handle, like an upside down U. October 10 - Today it was put on the shelf to be fired. October 19 - I started glazing today. I am glazing it with black, blue, and white. October 20 - I finished glazing and cleaning the bottom/inside for the lid to sit. I put it on the shelf to be fired today as well. Progress:
October 3 - Made the closed form today. It isn't as round as I would have liked, it's more straight and then starts curving/or rounding off more at the top. I want to sandpaper the top since it comes to a point. I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet, I might just carve out something or it could become a candle holder. I could also just leave it as a closed form (make a hole so it doesn't blow up when being fired) and focus more on the glaze. October 6- Today, I sandpapered it and make it a little more rounded. Since it is too dry to do anything else with it, it is mostly a paperweight. I'm not sure whether I want to make a design on it, such as flowers or something else, or if I want to try glazing it and mixing colors. October 10 - Today it went on the shelf to be fired. October 19 - It was glazed with purple, blue, and white. It should be getting ready to be fired or is fired. Progress:
Date- I decided to make the plate out of porcelain Date- I wasn't able to actually foot the plate so I just rounded it out some. October 5- It was finished being fired a while ago and was just waiting in my locker to be glazed. I glazed it today with a white base, blue, black, and then another coat of white. October 11 - It finished being fired and is out now. |
