Since it is around Christmas time, I am making some ornaments. Right now, I have made a few bears, hearts, and stars. I am planning on making more, most likely some more hearts, snowmans, candy canes, and trees. I will send them to family members and if possible, maybe sell some. Right now, the ones that are made are waiting in my locker sandwiched between bats to keep them from folding up. When we get back from Thanksgiving break, I will put them on the cart to be fired after sandpapering them. I used red clay and porcelain to make them. They're slab projects.
All of the ornaments are out of the bisque. I am in the process of glazing them. On some of the hearts, I am glazing flowers and leaves. On the teddy bears, I am going to make it look like frosted gingerbread bears. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the stars yet.

I made a short vase out of mixer clay. It has a foot ring on it. Right now, it is drying a little more in my locker. I had sandpapered it the other day, I just need to put it on the cart now.
It has been fired and is being glazed with a matt turquoise color. I am considering dipping half of it in white to have it be lighter. I made two plates out of porcelain. I was able to foot them. They're sitting in my locker to dry a little more. I will put them on the cart today.
These plates are fired and are being glazed now. I used the watercolor paints to paint some leaves on it and just put clear of it today (Novemer 24). On Monday, I will finish cleaning the bottom so it doesn't stick to the shelf. It'll then be put on the cart to be fired. This Tuesday, we began working on our group Frankenpot. I made the base, Kailey made the middle, and Emma made the top. After each of these were made, I connected them. The project is now in my locker with a bag over it. There is some red clay on it from the slip I used, I didn't realize there was red in it until I was using it. I was working on making a mug but it ended up becoming a large bowl. It fits in your hand and could possibly be used a soup bowl. It has a small foot ring and a uniform thickness.
This has been fired and glazed. I glazed half of it with black and the other half with white. It mixed a little in the middle to look blue. The inside is completely white. I've been working on making a mug, it's might be one of the tallest and nicest shaped things I've made so far. It was drying in my locker for a while. I made a handle before footing it so that it could dry with the project. I footed the mug and attached the handle. I spent about two days on this to make sure it was attached right. Next, I put it in a bag with a ball of clay in the mug. I did a few touches ups here and there, now it is sitting in my locker with the bag opened a little bit. |
