I made my closed-form like a paperweight, I am planning on looking at more things that can be made with closed-forms. I believe a few people made theirs into salt/pepper shakers and candle covers. That might be something neat to do, but I will look into other ideas as well. I glazed it with Sydney's blue and a purple, which turned out looking blue. I put white over the whole project so the colors would be lighter and mix a little.

I really like the shape of this project, it reminds me of a honey pot. I decided with lid to not make the usual ball handle I had before. At first, I tried making a handle on the wheel, kind of by making a closed form or like the beginnings of a double wall. When that didn't work, I decided to make the handle I have now. I'm planning on trying to make different types of handles. I wanted to do different shades of blue on this one. If you put white over scrap black, it usually comes out as a blue color. I made the first half of the project black and the other half Sydney's blue. The whole project has white over it. The white usually runs more than any other colors, which is helpful when you want colors to mix. This is a little cup I made, I'm not sure what else to call it. I wanted the glazes to run and mix. I used different shades of green, shadow green, turquoise, and Sydney's blue. On the inside of the cup I added a metallic brown, I thought it would look nice with the blue and greens. The whole cup is dipped in white and then fired. The inside turned a little more green than metallic brown, but I still think it looks nice. It ran a little more than I thought it would. This is a little vase made out of red clay. It looked a little like a rose at the top but I wasn't sure how to glaze it like that. Instead, I wanted to try adding a similar color on top of the project, I liked the color of the clay. I used metallic brown and white on top to make it run a little. It turned out more a green-moss color, I like this on the color of the clay. It reminds me of a brown similar to a tree and then green like moss or leaves. I added some glaze into the top part of the little vase, I was originally thinking it would turn out like metallic brown so it would look more like shading. I still like how it turned out. This is the first plate made, it was too thin/dry to foot though. This plate is made out of porcelain, I really like how the porcelain looks after being fired. I wanted the glaze to be different shades of blue but it didn't turn out that way. I do like that it looks a little drawn on though. I've seen a few ceramic projects that look really nice with glaze lines and I wanted to try doing something like that. I used Sydney's blue and white for this project. This is my second attempt at a tall project. It is a little taller than the first attempt but still isn't very tall. The colors didn't blend as much as I would have liked, but I will try again on another project. It is glazed with blue and then white to make varying colors. I want to make my tall projects taller but also wider. This one seems really little and not very wide. I am planning on continuing to make tall projects to try and make taller ones. This is the first attempt at a tall project. It turned out to be a little vase. It isn't very tall and doesn't have a foot, but I do really like the design/how the flowers turned out. I drew out the flowers before firing and then afterwords glazed it with pink, red, yellow, and green as well as a clear over the top. I need to work on pulling up more to make taller projects. I think slowing down the wheel when pulling up and using the tools more will help. |
