This is another mug I threw today in Art Club. Hopefully it'll be dry enough to foot, a lot of my projects have been drying so slowly lately! I'll be pulling a handle tomorrow. I wasn't able to foot it on March 22, but I pulled a handle and will hopefully be able to attach it after footing tomorrow.

This is a vase I made out of seamix and yellow clay. I was trying to make it into a rounded vase with a thin neck but it wasn't working out. I like the shape of this. The yellow color doesn't look as prominent as the others look before being fired. But, I am excited to see how this one turns out. I just threw it March 21st and am hoping to foot it on the 23rd. All of my projects have been drying so slowly lately! I am trying to create a more rounded vase with a small neck, I think it could be described as a bottle-neck vase. I am getting closer but not quite there yet. I believe this was one of the earlier attempts. The mixed colors didn't show up as well as I had hoped but they did show up nicely along the lip. It's a mix of seamix, yellow seamix, and a red clay. This is kind of like a cross between a bowl and vase. It was supposed to be more of a bowl but wasn't shaping right. I need to practice making large bowls more. Instead of mixing the two colored clays right away, I centered the seamix clay and then cut out pieces and added the orange clay. I centered it a little more and began throwing. I really like the way this one turned out. I don't think the red really shows up on the inside though and I'm not sure why that happened but maybe I'll try adding a little more next time. |
